Constitution Day
September 17 is Constitution Day, commemorating the signing of the United States Constitution in 1787.
More than two centuries later, the Constitution remains an important part of our shared history and our system of government. Constitution Day also provides an opportunity to reflect on something especially important to the mission of higher education—the responsibility of preparing informed and engaged citizens.
A college should be a place where people learn to think critically, ask thoughtful questions, listen to different perspectives, engage in respectful dialogue, and develop their own informed conclusions. Those skills matter not only in the classroom or workplace, but also in our communities and in our democracy. For this reason, PJC proudly sponsors the following activities to celebrate Constitution Day:
