Texas Basic Peace Officer Course

Prepare to meet the call of service by gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully complete the Texas Basic Peace Officer Course (BPOC) licensing exam. The Paris Junior College Law Enforcement Academy is proud to deliver high-quality training for future law enforcement professionals. Operating under contract and licensure with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), PJC LEA provides comprehensive instruction designed to meet state standards and prepare cadets for a career in public safety.

Basic Police Officer Course (BPOC)

The Basic Peace Officer Course is a 764-hour training program certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Completion of the Basic Academy is required in order to be licensed and hired as a Peace Officer in Texas. Following successful completion of the BPOC, those meeting the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) licensing requirements will be eligible to take the peace officer licensing exam. The academy generally runs Monday thru Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm with some evenings & Saturday’s to accommodate training needs
